What could your RICH life look like?

What could your RICH life look like?

Yay! It's the end of the month and I received a notification that I'd been paid! I feel rich because it's payday! Do you, like me, have the sense of joy when you see money arrive in your account on payday? How well are you able to manage that money so that you feel good about your bank account all the time? For most of us, the withdrawals and direct debits jus keep taking and taking. The council tax, the rent or mortgage, the water bill, electricity etc and I've not even mentioned food. How about clothing, and for the children- new shoes, changing weather means warmer clothes, or lighter clothes, depending on the season. The expenses list keeps getting longer! It's not long before that feeling of joy seeps away.

When I turned 40, I listened to a guy on You tube whose channel was all about finances and wealth creation. At that time, I had just finished my PhD and still felt very broke (financially). The more I listened to the guy, the more I felt like I had wasted my years and it just seemed like I was a loser. I wasn't sure what my next phase in life was going to turn out to be. I was married with three children and had a house on mortgage (I still am!) but I still felt like I was not where I was supposed to be at that stage in my life.

I know that some people would wish they had what I had, but deep inside, I was still not content or happy because everyone around me seemed to be doing better- financially. I always felt less- as if, somehow, I had made mistakes along the way. I certainly needed to put some things into perspective- I was alive, just finishing a PhD, blessed with 3 beautiful children, had a house, live in a great neighbourhood, and I had so many other things going for me but I wasn't happy because I didn't have any savings in my account.

Taking stock of my life and doing a vision and financial health check with my husband made us put some things right and that we had let slide for some time. Fast forward a few years from there, we now live in our dream house, I have a fab job, work from home and I can say I have achieve far beyond what was possible only a few years back.

Last week, I spoke to a group of lovely ladies on how to improve their financial wellbeing. If you've been following me for a while now, you will know that I am interested in helping you live your rich life. That's it- your rich life. Have you ever paused to wonder what your rich life could look like?

If you've never thought about this before, you might want to consider just what your rich life could look like. Put pen to par and write down what living that life would mean for you and paint a mental picture for yourself. For some people, it may mean having children, a happy home, a loving husband, and just having enough to live life and enjoy the simple pleasures. For others, it might look something like, being in good health, having a six-figure income, whilst working from home and working 2-3 days a week and having more time to spend with the children. For others it might mean going on exotic holidays and seeing different parts of the world, or a combination of these.

For me, my rich life is about spending time with my children, making fun memories with my husband, having enough money to spend and to spare, travelling, eating good, nutritious food, being generous with my time, presence and money, not being stressed with work and having solid 8 hours sleep every night.

Interestingly, I listened to something today that made me think a little more about what my rich life could really look like. It was about things you should invest in before age 45. I will write about that soon. If you have thought about your rich life, are living it right now, or would like to live it one day, please tell me what your rich life could mean in the comments and let's make it happen!
