How to make home made Bread- A quick and easy guide
Sometime in 2020, I found myself looking for home recipie for home made bread because we were all at home and there was a limit to the amount of certain food stuff one could purchase at a time. Naturally, bread flies off the kitchen cabinet when you have a whole family to feed. I came across this simple recipe and my family love it! Home made bread has since become a staple in my home. It is also really easy and quick to make!
So, what ingredients will you need?
Ingredients for one loaf of home made bread:
- Strong bread flour 500g
- Water (tepid temperature) 300mls
- Yeast (use instant yeast) 7g (I sachet)
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Sugar 2-3 tablespoons
Steps
- Weigh, and measure all your items as described
- Place four in a clean pan or on a clean work top
- Add the salt, sugar and yeast to the flour
- Make a well in the flour heap
- Add water, and stir the dry ingredients in gently, whilst mixing with the water
- Sprinkle flour on a dry work surface and knead the flour mixture using the heels of your hand - do this on a worktop for up to 4 to 5 minutes. Remember to turn your mixture unto a worktop if you started with your contents in a bowl.
- Place the dough in a container and sprinkle with flour. Cover with a clean kitchen cloth or clean film. Allow to prove and let the dough double in size.
- Knead the dough a second time only to dispel some air (not too much, this time to avoid over-kneading so you don't end up with a dense bread). Roll the dough into an oval or round shape. Place in a bread pan or tin. Allow to prove a second time until the dough rises- this is necessary to make the bread nice and fluffy as it refills with air bubbles. Place in an oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
- Allow the bread to cool slightly (about 2 minutes) before taking it out of the pan and let it cool on a rack. You may sprinkle or dust lightly with flour (optional), and enjoy!
I hope you have enjoyed this recipe. Please post your pictures here and share with us how you got on.
